The most expensive photograph ever sold is

The photograph, which depicts the Rhine River in Germany, was sold for $4.3 million at a Christie's auction in 2011. The print is a large-scale chromogenic color print measuring 73 by 143 inches, and it is one of an edition of six prints.

Gursky is known for his large-scale, digitally manipulated photographs that often depict urban or industrial landscapes. "Rhein II" is a striking example of his style, with its abstract composition and muted colors. The photograph was taken in 1999 and was digitally manipulated to remove all traces of human activity from the landscape, resulting in a surreal and otherworldly image.

The sale of "Rhein II" broke the previous record for the most expensive photograph ever sold, which was held by Cindy Sherman's "Untitled #96" at $3.9 million.

This piece is incredibly well-researched and provides a level of detail that is hard to find elsewhere. I especially appreciate how you tied all the different elements together into a cohesive narrative. It’s rare to find content that is both this comprehensive and this enjoyable to read 99exch
